A request from Craig who’s streaming the singles tournaments for the SPA this year
Dear IM Rep,
I am writing today with a request from Craig Anderson. Most of you will not know Craig, but he has secured the streaming rights to all SPA singles events for the year of 2020. Craig has a wealth of knowledge and experience and the SPA are looking forward to showcasing his talent nationwide.
Craig has asked that ALL members of the 2020 Individual Membership series create a CueScore login. Craig uses this platform for live scoring during his streaming activity. I have carried out this exercise myself and it is very simple, straightforward and takes less than 2 minutes. If you require any assistance I am sure Craig would oblige.
I would be very grateful if you could pass this email to your IM members for their action. We are looking to have this updated one week before the IM1 finals, so if the players could action this in the next two weeks it would be hugely appreciated.
Craig's contact email address is craiganderson90@ghotmail.co.uk
Kind Regards,
Michael

11 Ranking Points  Semi-Finalist
7 Ranking Points  Quarter-Finalist
4 Ranking Points  Last 16
2 Ranking Points  Last 32
1 Ranking Point  Last 64
5 Merit Points   Last 128
4 Merit Points   Last 256
3 Merit points   Last 512
2 Merit Points  Last 1024
1 Merit Point   Last 2048

Any player who awards their opponent a walkover will only be awarded the Merit or Ranking Points achieved for their previous round victory.  (i.e. A player out with the Top 16, who qualifies and does not attend the National Finals will only be awarded 4 Merit Points.  A player within the Top 16 that does not attend the finals will be awarded 0 Ranking and Merit Points).

Any player who is awarded a bye in the first qualifying rounds (L2048) then in the following round (L1024) awards their opponent a walkover will receive no Merit points for that event.

National Finals Code of Conduct
The dress code at the finals of each event is dress trousers, dress shoes and collared polo-shirt/shirt; please note no denims or trainers will be permitted.  Any player found not to be wearing the correct attire will automatically lose that frame and have ten minutes to comply with the dress code.  If he/she fails to return in the correct attire, they will be removed from the tournament.

Any player(s) drawn against each other, who are proven to have arranged to play their match prior to the finals, will be referred to the Disciplinary Committee and may face further sanctions; this could include disqualification from the IM Series of events.

All matches are best of 11 frames (first to 6) until the Last 16 stage.  For the Quarter and Semi-Finals the event will be increased to best of 13 frames (first to 7). The final shall be best of 15 frames (first to Cool

Any player taking longer than sixty seconds between shots is liable to receive firstly, a warning from either the referee or an official, followed by a foul being awarded to their opponent, with the ultimate penalty being loss of that frame (these three steps can only happen per match).  If a player has already been subjected to these three steps he/she will automatically lose a frame should he/she take longer than sixty seconds between shots in any further match during that tournament.

It is the player’s responsibility to ensure that they are available when their match is called. Should a match be called and a player not arrive they will be docked one frame at this time, for every ten minutes that they do not appear after that, they will lose another frame. Should a player not arrive at all, after the time allowed, their opponent will be awarded the match (such matches are classed as walkovers).

All players are expected to play and act in a sportsmanlike manner at all times at each event. It should be noted that all players are also responsible for their own spectator’s conduct as well. If necessary, a player will be warned and then penalised for any unsportsmanlike behaviour from friends or supporters. Ungentlemanly conduct or misbehaviour will be dealt with as the Tournament Director sees fit.

It should be noted that there will NOT be a dedicated referee for any match except the final.  A qualified referee will be present all weekend at each venue and it is the player’s responsibility to ask for this referee to be present for any particular shot that may prove to be decisive. If your opponent asks for the referee, you must wait until he/she is at the table.  Players must therefore act in a sportsmanlike manner and should it be highlighted that if a player tries to abuse this arrangement then further action may be taken.

The decision of the Tournament Director shall be deemed as final but each player has the right of appeal, which should be sent in writing to Mr David Duncan, SPA Secretary, 31 Blake Street, Dunfermline, KY11 4PW, and this shall be addressed at the following Monthly meeting of the Scottish Pool Association.

No-Shows Any player that cannot attend the National Finals must inform the SPA a minimum of twenty four hours in advance.  Any player that fails to notify the SPA in this time period shall be given a warning.  Any player that has received a warning, who fails to notify the SPA in subsequent events shall be removed from the remainder of the

2020 SPA Mick McGoldrick IM Series
by: FCBash, 22-10-2019 10:52 PM (#1)

2020 SPA Mick McGoldrick IM Series
The 2020 SPA Mick McGoldrick IM Series shall have a small amended format from 2019. This was highlighted to the members in July 2018. Areas shall still be awarded a pro-rata of qualifiers based upon their entries, the more entries an area has, the more qualifiers they shall likely receive for the National Finals.

The National Finals will have 128 qualifiers, where the Top 16 from the rankings the season before are automatic and joined by 112 qualifiers from all over Scotland.

There will be FOUR events again in 2020, each of these will count towards players' ranking in the series, in addition the Scottish Singles also counts towards each players ranking. Every player is awarded Merit or Ranking Points determined by their position in each event. There will be no other IM event outside of these four.

The National Finals shall be held on the following dates:-

Event 1: 7th & 8th March (Players Lounge, Falkirk) Deadline for Qualifiers 1 March
Event 2: 2nd & 3rd May (Corner Pocket, Dalkieth)  Deadline for Qualifiers 19 April
Event 3: 12th & 13th September (subject to change until EBA B Event dates are confirmed)
Event 4: 17th & 18th October (subject to change until EBA B Event dates are confirmed)

2020 SPA MM IM Area Draws

The remaining venues will be announced as soon as they are known. Each National Finals will be held in one club, where possible. However, this may be held by two clubs on the Saturday, in certain circumstances.

Entry for the 2020 Series is £25 per player out with the automatic qualifiers. The entry fee for an automatic qualifier is £75. This is still one of the best value tournaments on offer with all entry money taken in being paid out. This season just under £25k was paid out over the 4 IM events. In addition, players will have to pay their £5 SPA Member Registration.

Draws
We will endeavor to ensure timings permit one half of the draw to be played out on the Saturday, with the other half of the draw being played on the Sunday where only a handful of remaining players, from the Saturday, will have to return later on the Sunday. In essence making this a one-day event for the majority of players.

No-Shows
Any player that cannot attend the National Finals must inform the SPA a minimum of twenty four hours in advance. Any player that fails to notify the SPA in this time period shall be given a warning. Any player that has received a warning, who fails to notify the SPA in subsequent events shall be removed from the remainder of the IM season in that calendar year. Should a players suspension be incurred at event four then they shall be suspended for the first two IM events from when they next register to compete.

Payment Information
Anyone wishing to participate in the 2020 Mick McGoldrick IM Series of Events must register with their IM Rep. Remember, anyone who misses this deadline shall miss the entire 2020 Series.

Entries will close at 12 Noon on Sunday 8th December, but please note IM Reps may have a deadline which is before this to allow cleared payment to reach the SPA Accounts prior to the SPA meeting that day. As a reminder, no cash will be accepted on the day.

IM Reps
The entry and payment deadline is Sunday 8th December 2019. Reps must ensure cleared funds have reached the SPA Accounts no later than the deadline. Please note that a full list of entries must also be sent to spa-im@hotmail.co.uk before the deadline.
