Re: Doubles 1st Round
To me there is something really wrong with the politics in this pool league as I couldnt play last night because my pre registered team mates couldn't attend due to work commitments etc rendering me rejected from the whole competition before I even struck a ball. We had another spare player from my team who could have played in either of their place then kept the same pairing for the rest of the tourney. I know the draw was made weeks ago but who is to know what their shift shall be so far in advance. In my opinion its total BOLLOCKS to the numpties who came up with this sort of idiotic rule. No player should be stopped from playing a tournament before it has even begun just because of meaningless paperwork. This wouldnt happen in ANY other pub league in scotland. Its not as if the rewards for winning tournaments are that fantastic anyway.

Re: Doubles 1st Round
Totally agree with your statement Bully, but it's the committee that you need to take this up with!!
I do agree with the naming of players before any draw is made but why have a 3 man squad in doubles? Should only have 2 named in the doubles at the start and once you play with that person then thats it for the whole tourney, replacements should only be allowed at the first round stage and only be by a player that has not been already named in another double.
But your mistake was that you had already named 3 players in the squad prior to the draw being made, I think and I maybe wrong, that if you had only named 2 then you could have added another at any stage through the tourney
Yes you should have been able to play with someone else last night as long as he was not named in any other double before the draw was made.
But Brodie only looks after himself and the Denn Inn, if a rule suits him it's in and if it does not suit him it's out, this league would be better kicking him off the Committee as soon as possible and get the whole league dragged into the 21st century.

Re: Doubles 1st Round
Can i just say as far as the rules of this compitition go they were not decided by the commitee but by our team reps at the agm
and if remember correctly joe your rep was 1 of the masterminds behind this fuck up so the blame does not lie souly wiv the chairman or even the other 2 members of the commitee, the mindless yes men who turn at the agm for a free drink shud take some resposability 4 it!!!!!
so anyway these are the rules you may like them you may not but we have them at least for the remainder of the year so GIT ER IT and play the game

I am totally blind to anything that happens at either an AGM or regular meetings. I just give my opinion as I see it. So I do not have a clue about what my rep said or what he did not say. But pre naming before the draw is made is the only way forward, the only issue here is what happens when someone can't make it
Well all the dates are pre booked in advance so what's the problem
If someone can't make the dates then DO NOT ENTER

Sunbeam:-
Mark Anderson and Baz Wilson (douglas), they were awesome on the night.
K Dick/D Mathewson/C Arnott and 2 from these 3 from (blazers), these guys looked pretty good also but made it hard for themselves although they did not lose a frame.

I thank you for your honesty but we already knew this
Blazers qualifiers as i'v heard
last seasons champions are out Bandit / Chris Corcoran
qualified fi Maxwells - G Goodsir/R Warrender - B Thomson/G Brunton
AHW - G Kinninmonth/A Laverty what a pair o fanny's they were so drunk and nippy as fuck and was made worse when we lost to guidy and his dad , no dicky we are pish and unlucky as fuck
Sunbeam as above K Dick/C Arnott
so 4 out of 6 made it through for blazers
AGM what a carry on. it may have been better to name your teams and then be allowed to play any player as a sub if needed. name a sub if your team qualified for the second round.
but saying that it is getting a bit of a carry on i dont agree with subs at any time especially in doubles.
i can see the point in 3 and 5 man teams, more chance of someone being missing.
